Welcome to Bainbridge Island Community Woodshop

Our all-volunteer group is dedicated to continuing the long woodworking traditions of our island in Puget Sound through education, community service, and sharing of tools and knowledge among woodworkers of all skill levels. We are working to build a woodshop that will be open to all adults in the community who complete safety training and pay modest dues. We have an active community service program and sponsor classes offered through the Bainbridge Island parks and recreation department. We also arrange periodic speakers on a variety of woodworking topics.

Our members include highly skilled professionals as well as novice woodworkers. We welcome new members who are interested in learning about and sharing the fascinating pursuit of woodworking. To learn more, please email.

  • The Johnson Farm could be home to our woodshop

After searching for more than a year for a place to build a community woodshop, we think we finally have a great site: part of the city-owned Johnson Farm.

This 14-acre property lies along Fletcher Bay Road just north of Island Center Road. We would build on a former gravel pit, land that isn't suitable for farming. City Council members unanimously endorsed the idea at a study session in May, and we are now in the process of applying for formal approvals. Learn more at our next general membership meeting, 9-11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 11, in the Kallgren Room at the Senior Center.
